Yay!! Hip-hip-hooray!! I am finished the 31 day dress challenge!!
I am happy to report that I did not duplicate a single outfit. Not only that, but I didn't even duplicate any shirt item. I certainly used and re-used my jeans, tights, boots and belt. BUT never did I use a shirt, cardigan or scarf more than once. Phew, that was tough!
I'm not going to say that I regretted doing this challenge, but I certainly didn't really enjoy it - at least after the first two weeks. It was very hard getting ready every day, trying to be creative all around this black dress. And it was hard when I had a certain outfit in my mind, but the day ahead wasn't condusive to the dressiness of it. Or it was an outfit that I really liked, but knew I wasn't going to see enough people to make it worthy of putting it on so I'd need to reschedule things so I would wear the more favorite outfits on days where I would see more people.
It did get me to put things together that I ordinarily wouldn't - like turning my dress into a t-shirt, or even wearing the dress over jeans. Or wearing shirts underneath or overtop. Before this, I have only ever worn this dress as just that - a dress. Sure, with a scarf or cardigan over top but that's as far as it went. So I did get more creative than I normally would've, which was the reason why I did it to begin with.
And yes, I realized that my wardrobe was far more extensive than I thought it was. The "I have nothing to wear" excuse certainly can't ever be used again!!
But I am SO looking forward to tomorrow...and the next day...and the next day...where I can wear whatever I want and not worry about incorporating "the dress" into the outfit.
People have asked me if I will ever wear the dress again or if I'll burn it (ha ha!). I will certainly keep it and I will most certainly wear it again...just not for awhile! It's obviously a very versatile piece of clothing - and it really is comfortable (except when wearing it as a shirt, that was always a bit uncomfortable). We just need to take a break, that's all!
I have also been asked if I will do this again. I have learned from past experiences to "never say never" - but as of right now, I'm quite sure that I won't be needing to repeat this experience.
I'm sure there is more I could say on the topic, but for now I'm just really ready for it all to be over, so I'm leaving it at that.
Oh - except to ask for your #1 favorite over all 31 days? I think my favorites are Days 26 and 30 - although Days 10 and 14 are also right up there for me too!
